Wine-Tasting in Andalusia
Although Casarabonela does not produce wine today, it boasts a rich viticultural history dating back to Roman times. Known then as “Castra Vinaria,” meaning “fortress of wine,” the village’s name reflects the importance of wine production in the area.
During the Roman period, Casarabonela was a significant center for viticulture, with the fertile hillsides ideal for grape cultivation. The Romans established a paved road connecting Málaga to Ronda, facilitating trade and the export of wine.
Today, while Casarabonela no longer produces wine, its historical connection to viticulture remains a testament to its rich cultural heritage.
