The Caminito del Rey

1. Historical Purpose: Constructed between 1901 and 1905, the Caminito del Rey was originally built to provide access for workers to the El Chorro hydroelectric power plant.

2. Name Origin: The pathway earned its name, which translates to “The King’s Little Pathway,” after King Alfonso XIII traversed it during the inauguration of the Guadalhorce reservoir in 1921.
